The House Organ

And now, a word from our Distribution Manager

Today, I discovered 18 square feet of driveway and sidewalk that I never knew that I had. How, you might ask? Well, my wife and I recently purchased a small home and moved in, late this past Fall. So, with the dawning of Spring, today was my first day for tending to the chore of mowing and trimming my lawn. Pulling up my green-friendly, unpowered, push-mower and equally green-friendly push-edger, I set about to complete the task in short of an hour. Well, the mowing went well, and then I took the edging to task only to discover that my lawn had grown out over the driveway and front sidewalk to such an extent that I had to pull out a trusty lock-blade to cut away all the overgrown grass. (6 inches in someplaces!?!) I didn't realize that grass could grow ontop concrete, but apparantly it can. The resilent plant apparently just carries whatever dirt it needs with it. After confirming with a neighbor, I believe it is justifiable to say that the previous owners didn't do much yardwork, ever.

So, what has this "incident in gardening" and "lessons on insignificant things to check when purchasing a house" have to do with April's Issue? Well, I am glad you asked, because the truth is, absolutely nothing. However, I thought finding 18 square feet of concrete that I thought I didn't have was kind of, well, an interesting experience. *_*

Anyway, this month, we have a short story and associated collection of Martian Federation Equipment, a short story from a new member , and another short story of continuance. As such, I have dubbed this issue, Something new and different, something continuing, and something just new." Pretty exciting, huh?

Enough said. Enjoy!
